184 pounds of marijuana and 93,060 pills of Xanas seized, couple arrested
Texas Department of Public Safety arrested a major
supplier of the illegal prescription drug Xanax, seizing 93,060 tablets of the drug worth half a million
dollars and 184 pounds of marijuana worth $105,000.
On Saturday at 12:40 p.m., DPS Narcotics arrested
42 year-old Carlos Jimenez Villanueva and his 24 year-old wife, Dora Janeth Villanueva, both from Kyle, on
federal charges of possession with intent to distribute Xanax and marijuana. Mr. and Mrs. Villanueva were
arrested at their Kyle residence at 404 South Main Street after they attempted to sell the illegal drugs to
an undercover officer.
"Through drug seizures and arrests, DPS Narcotics
is reducing the trafficking and sale of illegal prescription drugs," said Col. Thomas A. Davis Jr., Director
of the DPS. "When these drugs are misused and taken illegally, they pose a risk not only to those who take
them but also to the public, who comes in contact with these drug users and
traffickers."
The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigations, the
Warren-Clinton Drug Task Force in Ohio, the Hays County Narcotics Task Force, the Chisholm Trail Drug Task
Force, the Drug Enforcement Agency and the Federal Bureau of Investigation also assisted in the
arrests.
