State Trooper finds duffel bags containing 683 pounds of marijuana inside a Chevy Suburban
from Minnesota
A routine traffic stop by the Nebraska State Patrol
led to the discovery of 683 pounds of marijuana. The 29 packages of marijuana were found in several large
duffle bags.
On Sunday, November 13, 2005, around 3:40 pm.,
eastbound on Interstate 80 near mile marker 396, an NSP trooper stopped a black, 1997 Chevy Suburban for
Following too Close and not having a License Plate on File. During the stop the trooper observed a blanket
spread over what appeared to be several large duffel bags. The trooper was given both verbal and written
consent to search the vehicle. The search turned up 13 duffel bags located throughout the vehicle. Each
duffel bag contained packages of marijuana.Arrested on a charge of Possession of Marijuana with Intent to
Deliver was the vehicle's driver 20-year-old Carin Philpot of St. Cloud, Minnesota, and a
passenger in the vehicle 20-year-old Anna Marie Lindquist of Rockford, Minnesota. The two
women were lodged in the Lancaster County Jail.
