Subject arrested after picking up 285 pounds of Marijuana at a Freight delivery location and
delivering it to a barn
An Arizona man was arrested Monday by federal drug
enforcement agents in Fort Wayne for receiving 285 pounds of marijuana in a crate originally delivered to
Towne Air and Freight, 9402 Yeager Lane, from Arizona.
Jose Angel Garcia, 20, also known
as Miguel Angel Lopez, was arrested at a barn in the 16000 block of Smith Road and charged
Tuesday in U.S. District Court with conspiracy to commit possession with intent to distribute
marijuana.
According to court documents, Garcia left a Bowser
Avenue address shortly after noon Monday and drove to a hotel in the 6500 block of Bluffton Road and stayed
there until just after 2 p.m. He left the hotel wearing medical scrubs and drove to Towne, picked up the
crate, and took it to the barn, where several cars and people waited.
Drug enforcement agents watched from afar and later
arrested Garcia as he was leaving the barn. He told police someone by phone in Arizona told him to change
clothes before going to the barn. He also said he was paid $1,200 to deliver the
crate.
