CBSA officers seize 2.75 kilos of heroin at Montreal Airport in Quebec
The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) announced
today that its officers at the Montréal-Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport have seized 2.75 kilos
of heroin worth an estimated street value of $1.1 million.
In the late afternoon of November 30, 2006, an
Ontario resident reported to CBSA officers at the Montréal-Trudeau Airport after arriving on a flight from
Ivory Coast that had made a transit through Paris. The behaviour and attitude of the 50 year old man led
officers to do a more thorough search. In checking the man's luggage, the officers noted that one suitcase
had unusual bulges. The officers pierced the sides of the suitcase and found the heroin in the form of beige
powder. The drugs were handed over to the RCMP, which is leading the investigation in cooperation with the
CBSA's Intelligence Division. The individual was charged by the RCMP with importation of a controlled
substance.
