Female Drug smuggler arrested at airport with a half kilo of heroin
Customs and the Australian Federal Police (AFP)
have stopped an alleged attempt by a Sydney woman to internally smuggle narcotics into Australia, following
the arrest of a man on the same flight.
Customs officers at Sydney International Airport
selected the 44-year-old woman for a baggage examination after she arrived with her partner on a flight from
Vietnam on Wednesday 7 February 2007.
The couple were both referred to the AFP and taken
to hospital for a medical examination, where the woman later passed pellets allegedly containing
approximately 500 grams of a white powder believed to heroin.
