February 20, 2007 East Baton Rouge Parrish,
Louisiana Deputies find a total of 192 pounds of marijuana in luggage during two
different traffic stops of passenger buses
At 0157 hrs, Sgt. David Grunewald stopped an Adame
Passenger bus for speeding 73 in a 60 mph zone on Interstate 12 in Baton Rouge. The bus was en route to
Indianapolis, Indiana from Houston, Texas. During the stop, the driver granted consent for a check of the
luggage bins. K9 Laika was deployed and conducted a sniff search inside the bins. Laika showed an odor
response on a large duffel bag and a large suitcase.
A passenger claimed ownership of the bags. The tags
on the luggage matched the Mexican drivers license that was on his person. Inside the bags 64.13 pounds of
marijuana was found. Sergio A. Mora-Reyes was subsequently booked with possession with
intent to distribute Marijuana.
In a seperate stop on I-12 east bound in Baton
Rouge, Deputy Chuck Foster stopped an El Expresso Passenger Bus bound for Miami, Fl. from Houston,
Tx.
Deputy Foster conducted a search of the luggage
compartment and located 128 pounds of Marijuana. The owner/transporter of that marijuana was not
located.
