32,000 ecstasy pills seized, two people arrested by Ohio State Police

Felony drug trafficking charges associated with the seizure of approximately 32,000 dosage units of ecstasy. Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers seized the pills, valued at $640,000, during a traffic stop Friday on the Ohio Turnpike in Lucas County.

The driver, David Quach, 32, of Roselle, Illinois, and passenger, Vinh Quang VI, 32, of Chicago, Illinois, were charged with trafficking drugs and drug abuse, both first-degree felonies. Quach was also cited for a following too close violation.

Troopers stopped a rented 2007 Pontiac Grand Prix, displaying North Carolina registration, for a following too close violation westbound on the Ohio Turnpike near milepost 59 in Lucas County at 1:26 p.m. Friday. An Ohio State Highway Patrol drug detector dog alerted to the vehicle and a probable cause search revealed approximately 32,000 dosage units of ecstasy.

Both suspects were incarcerated in the Lucas County Jail. If convicted, each could face up to 20 years in prison and up to a $40,000 fine. The vehicle was returned to the rental agency.

In 2006, the Patrol seized more than 4.9 million grams (11,000 lbs.) of illegal narcotics, valued at nearly $55 million.
