Trooper finds 29 pounds of marijuana in a spare tire and also cocaine in car

On May 19, 2007, Francisco Romo, 25, of Chihuahua, Mexico, was stopped on northbound Interstate 35 for a traffic violation. The trooper who stopped Romo became suspicious of his travel destination and asked to search the vehicle.

While searching the 1997 Ford Explorer, troopers found 29 pounds of marijuana in the vehicle's spare tire and one-half of a pound of cocaine behind the dashboard of the vehicle.

Romo was arrested for first degree drug trafficking, failure to display valid plates on a motor vehicle, and failure to drive within the right line of traffic. He is currently being held at the Daviess and DeKalb Regional Jail in Pattonsburg, MO.
