Missouri Tractor trailer driver from Arizona is arrested by State Troopers for
having 50 pounds of marijuana hidden inside a coil of copper tubing
At approximately 1 p.m., August 18, 2007, Troop I
commercial vehicle officers stopped a 1985 Kenworth tractor and trailer unit on eastbound Interstate 44, near
the east city limit of St. Robert, in order to conduct a vehicle inspection. Inconsistent statements made by
the driver prompted the officers to request a trooper, who then requested a canine, to respond and assist
with the vehicle stop. The canine alerted to the load. Further inspection revealed approximately 50 pounds of
processed marijuana concealed inside a large coil of copper tubing on the trailer.
The driver of the tractor-trailer unit,
James C. Salyers, 46, Mesa, AZ, was arrested for felony possession of a controlled substance
and felony possession of a controlled substance in a non-prescription container. Salyers was incarcerated in
the Pulaski County Jail.
