tractor trailer on Interstate 44
On Sunday, August 19, 2007, an eastbound 1998
Freightliner tractor-trailer was stopped by commercial motor vehicle officers for a compliance check on
Interstate 44, at the 89 mile-marker, in Greene County. Due to suspicious circumstances discovered during the
traffic stop, a Missouri State Highway Patrol K-9 unit was summoned, which resulted in a positive indication
for drugs by the K-9. Approximately 2,100 pounds of marijuana was located inside the cargo area within the
load of peppers.
The driver, Silvio Santos, of
Kansas City, KS, and passenger, Noel Padron, of Shawnee, KS, were arrested on trafficking in drugs-first
