Sheriff's Office finds 180 kilograms of cocaine, guns and $1,488,950 after suspects flee when a deputy just went to serve a civil paper at residence

In one of the largest drug and money seizures in Denton County history, the Denton County Sheriff's Office Drug Enforcement Unit seized about 180 kilograms of cocaine, almost $1.5 million in cash and several firearms, including assault rifles and pistols, from a Carrollton home Thursday afternoon.

Shortly before 4 p.m., the Sheriff's Office received a request for assistance from Constable Precinct 6 after a deputy tried to serve a civil paper at 1806 Post Oak Lane in Carrolton. After knocking on the front door, he observed several men fleeing out the back door. Thinking he had chanced upon a burglary in progress, the deputy entered the open door to secure the area and saw a large amount of cash and evidence of narcotics in plain view.

The constable called the Sheriff's Office Drug Enforcement Unit, who obtained search warrants for the property and the vehicles and called for assistance from the Drug Enforcement Administration.

The officers found 180 kilograms of cocaine wrapped in plastic packages, $1,488,950 in wrapped cash, four assault rifles, five pistols and three bulletproof vests. They also seized two vehicles. The DEA took possession of the cocaine and the money was taken to an area bank.

The fleeing suspects have not been apprehended, and no arrests have yet been made.
