3650 pounds of marijuana siezed that were in a trailer in route to New York

On March 13, 2008 an officer of the DPS Northern Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Bureau stopped a vehicle on Interstate 17. After observing the behavior of the driver and passenger the officer searched the vehicle with the help of another canine officer. When searching the vehicle the officer saw in the rear of the vehicle some duffle bags that were stacked behind all the produce packages. Officers found 37 duffle bags full of marijuana, weighing about 3,650 pounds. The driver Gerald Hardy and passenger Bobby Bowens were in route to New York. Both were arrested and charged with possession of marijuana, possession of marijuana for transportation and sale.
