Damaris Garcia was arrested with 320 pounds of marijuana in her vehicle
On December 3, 2008 a Department of Public Safety
officer stopped a 2000 Ford Explorer for a traffic violation on interstate 10. When the officer approached
the vehicle he was able to see the bundles of marijuana in the rear of the vehicle. The driver
Damaris A. Garcia, age 31, was apprehended but the passenger fled on foot. When the vehicle
was searched officers found sixteen bales of marijuana, weighing 320 pounds. Garcia received charges for
possession of marijuana, possession of marijuana for sale and transportation of marijuana for sale. The
passenger was not apprehended at the time but an investigation followed.
