325 Pounds of Marijuana seized from minivan on Interstate 10
On March 27, 2009 when a DPS officer stopped a 1995
Chrysler minivan for an equipment violation westbound on Interstate 10 at milepost 203 near Casa Grande. The
officer was able to smell a strong odor of raw Marijuana coming from the van. The officer searched the
minivan and found several large bundles of marijuana. The Marijuana weighed in at 325 pounds with a street
value of $178,750. The driver Amanda Karen Walter of Huachuca, AZ, was arrested and booked
into the Pinal County Jail on charges of Possession of Marijuana, Possession of Marijuana for Sale,
Transportation of Marijuana for Sale, and Conspiracy to Distribute/Sell Marijuana. The suspect stated she was
headed from Huachuca to Phoenix with this particular load. The Marijuana and mini-van were seized.
