CBP Officers seize 69.65 pound of Marijuana and a handgun

U.S. Customs and Border Protection Border Patrol agents from the Yuma, Ariz. station conducting inspections at a checkpoint on Highway 95 seized 69.65 pounds of marijuana and a concealed handgun, leading to the arrest of the driver and seizure of the vehicle.

A white 2003 Dodge Ram 1500 Quad Cab drove up to the primary inspection lane when a Border Patrol canine alerted to the possible presence of contraband in the vehicle.

During the ensuing search agents found 26 packages of marijuana in one of the vehicle's spare tires, 40 more packages of marijuana concealed inside the doors of the vehicle and an unloaded Colt 32 caliber handgun under the carpet beneath the vehicle backseats. A total of 66 packages of marijuana were seized weighing 69.65 pounds. The driver, passenger, marijuana and firearm were turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration.
