Texas 153 pounds of marijuana siezed at the Pharr/Reynosa International
Bridge.
On May 1, 2009 a CBP officers working at the
Pharr/Reynosa International Bridge came in contact with a northbound traveler driving a 1995 Ford Bronco. The
traveler was accompanied by two passengers, a male and a female. After a primary examination, the vehicle,
driver and passengers were referred to secondary for an intensive inspection. In secondary, officers noted
discrepancies to the vehicle's gas tank. "Slick", a narcotic detector dog, alerted officers to the presence
of narcotic odors emanating from the Bronco's undercarriage. A non-intrusive image scan revealed anomalies
within the Bronco's gas tank. Officers found the gas tank equipped with three compartments. Each of the
compartments concealed a large amount of compressed bulk marijuana. Arrested on federal drug charges were the
driver, Ramon Oscar Robledo, a U.S. citizen, 25 years of age from Duncanville, Texas and
passenger, Arturo Galvan, a U.S. citizen, 43 years of age from Dallas, Texas. The female
passenger was not charged and was later released. After their arrest, both men were transferred to the
custody of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement special agents who continue to investigate this failed
smuggling attempt. CBP officers seized the marijuana and the Ford
