321 high ranking cartel members were arrested in the month of April

As of May 1, 2009 the Secretary of Public Safety in Mexico announced the arrest of 321 high ranking members of different drug cartels in the past month. The most important arrest were that of Vicente Carrillo Fuentes aka "El Ingeniero', Rafael Cedeño Hernandez aka "El Cede", German Torres Jimenez aka "El Z-25" and Gregorio Sauceda Gamboa aka "El Goyo".

Vicente Carrillo Leyva aka "El Ingeniero" is son of the deseased Amado Carrillo Fuentes aka "El Señor los cielos" (the man of the sky's). Carrillo Leyva was the heir to the control of the Juarez Cartel after the death of his father. He was arrested on April 2, 2009.

On April 19, 2009 Rafael Cedeño Hernandez aka "El Cede" and 44 other members of his organization were arrested. Cedeño Hernandez was identified as one of the leaders of "La Familia Michoacána" (the Michoacán family)

On April 24, 2009 German Torres Jimenez aka el "Z-25" was arrested. Torres Jimenez is one of the founders of "Los Zetas" and carried out operations of kidnappings and drug trafficking.

In Matamoros, Tamaulipas on April 29, 2009 Gregorio Sauceda Gamboa, aka "El Goyo" was arrested. He was the leader and a member of the Gulf Cartel.
