Cesar Omar Rico-Leyva was arrested with 136 pounds of marijuana

On June 27, 2009 a Department of Public Safety officer attempted to stop a gray Ford Expedition for a traffic violation westbound on I-10, just southeast of Casa Grande. The suspect driver did not stop and a short pursuit ensued. DPS Officers were able to successfully deploy stop sticks and spike some of the tires of the Expedition. The suspect driver pulled over at exit 199 where our officers were able to take the driver and passenger into custody. A subsequent search revealed a total of 136 pounds of marijuana in the SUV. The driver, Cesar Omar Rico-Leyva, of Tucson, was arrested and booked into the Pinal County Jail on charges of possession of marijuana, possession of marijuana for sale, transportation of marijuana for sale, and conspiracy to distribute/sell marijuana, unlawful flight from pursuing law enforcement, and theft of means of transportation. The passenger, Dulce Maria Guerrero-Aldecoa, 29 years of age, of Tucson, was released to the Border Patrol. Both suspects were identified as illegal aliens. The marijuana was seized and the SUV was returned to the owner.
