Drug "Mules" abondon 1,304 pounds of Marijuana and flee back to Mexico

On July 1, 2009 Border Patrol agents on patrol near Los Barreras spotted several individuals carrying bundles walking north from the Rio Grande River. As the agents approached the smugglers, also known as "mules," they abandoned their load and ran south into Mexico. Agents searched the area and found 16 bundles of marijuana that have a total weight of 1,304 pounds.
