Border Patrol Agents make two large seizures on 4th of July weekend
On July 3, 2009 Border Patrol agents at the
checkpoint located on Interstate 35 north of Laredo made one of the largest seizure of the weekend after they
searched the trailer of an 18-wheeler and discovered 40 large cellophane-wrapped bundles among a palletized
load of canned food. The bundles contained marijuana with a total weight of 1,408.3 pounds. Another seizure
occurred when agents discovered 14 cellophane-wrapped bundles in a tractor-trailer carrying a load of glass
laboratory containers. The bundles contained marijuana with a total weight of 759.3 pounds. The drugs,
suspects and vehicles were turned in to the Drug Enforcement
Administration.
