Two Mayors of municipalities in the state of Michoacan receive prison sentenses for involvement with "La Familia Michoacana"

On July 10, 2009 a Federal Judge in Nayarit sentenced to prison two former Mayors of two towns in the State of Michoacán and a former member of Mexico's Attorney General (PGR). They were sentenced after sufficient evidence was presented proving their involvement in protecting the Organized crime organization "La Familia Michoacána".

The mayors sentenced were Mariano Ortega Sánchez who was the mayor of the municipality of Lázaro Cardenas at the time of their arrest and the ex president of the municipality of Carácuaro, Isreal Tentori Garcia. The ex agent of the Attorney General's office in Michoacán was Lorenzo Rosales Mendoza who was also sentenced in connection with "La Familia Michoacana" cartel.
