Dimas Diaz Ramos "El Dimas" was arrested by Mexican Federal Police
On August 9, 2009 the Federal Mexican Police captured
Dimas Diaz Ramos aka "El Dimas" or "El Sies" who was in charge of assassinating Mexican President
Felipe Calderon. Diaz Ramos worked for the Pacific Cartel and the Sinaloa Cartel headed by Joaquin "El
Chapo" Guzman and Ismael "El Mayo" Zambada. It is believed that the assassination attempt
was in retaliation after several of the cartels members were arrested and the seizure of almost 30 million dollars
in September of 2008.
Dimas Diaz Ramos was a former agent of the
ministerial Police in Sinaloa and was currently the financial operator for "El Mayo" Zambada and was also linked to
Nazario Moreno Gonzalez "El Chayo" of the "La Familia" Cartel in Michoacán. He replaced
Jose Lamberto Verdugo Calderon who was in charge of one of the cell's of the Pacific Cartel.
Verdugo Calderon was killed during a battle with police on January 22, 2009 and Daiz Ramos assumed his role in the
Cartel. Other duties "El Dimas" was in charge of was to move drugs (Marijuana primarily) from the State of
Michoacán to Baja California in Tractor trailers that had shipments of avocados and peppers.
The Federal Police began this investigation after a series of
threats that came after the President declared war on organized crime and several arrest were made as well as large
money seizures made from the Pacific Cartel by the army.
Diaz Ramos was arrested in Culiacan along with Miguel
Angel Bagglieto Meraz, Joel Gonzalez Esparza aka "El Raspu', Benni Jassiel Ramirez aka
"El Brother" and Jesus Aaron Acosta Montero aka "El Tarrayas".
