State Police seize 90 kilos of cocaine on Interstate 80
The Ohio State Highway Patrol reported today that over $10 million
worth of cocaine was seized on the Ohio Turnpike in Lucas County
yesterday after a traffic stop. The Patrol said this is the fourth
largest cocaine seizure after a traffic stop in the Division’s 67-year
history.
Troopers said at 5:09 p.m. Tuesday, a 1991 Chevy pickup was
stopped near milepost 57 on Interstate 80 for a speeding violation. A
drug-detecting canine was summoned to the scene and alerted to
the vehicle. During a search, troopers found 90 packages of
cocaine in a hidden compartment under the bed of the pickup truck.
The Drug Enforcement Administration responded to the scene and
will charge both suspects federally.
