Jose Ramon Davila Lopez "El Cholo", hitman for the Gulf Cartel was arrested

On February 8, 2007 the Agent of the Public Ministry of the Republic announces that through investigations by Federal agencies they were able to arrest Jose Ramon Davila Lopez aka "El Cholo" in Cuidad Victoria, Tamaulipas. Davilia Lopez is a member of the group known as "Los Zetas" where he served as a hitman under direct order from Heriberto Lazcano Lazcano aka "Lazca" and Omar Lormendez Pitalua, aka "Z_10" or "El Pita". Davilla Lopez who also claimed to use the names Antonio Torres Hernandez and David Rubio Conde was arrested along with Margarita Garcia Mendez on February 2, 2007. The arrest happened after a clash between him and Police in a street of Cuidad Victoria, Tamaulipas. The clash between him and police resulted in the injuries of two police officers and one civilian. After he was detained officers seized; a hand gun, 22 gauge rifle, a small amount of cocaine, ammo, a grenade and two vehicles. After being arrested under the names of Antonio Torres Hernandez and David Rubio Conde which was known to be part of the group "Los Zetas" he was taken to get fingerprinted it was discovered that his finger prints matched those of Jose Ramon Davila Lopez. Under that name Federal agents knew he was a hit man for the Golf Cartel.

Jose Ramon Davila Lopez and Margarita Garcia Mendez were transported to Mexico City for Sentencing.
