Juan Oscar Garza Azuara "El Barbas" of the Gulf Cartel Arrested

On April 17, 2007 it was announced that Federal agencies with the help of local law enforcement agencies the arrests of Juan Oscar Garza Azuara or Juan Oscar Garza Alanis aka "El Barbas" who operated a cell of the Gulf Cartel in Reynosa, Tamaulipas. Along with him four other members of the cell were arrested. They ran were responsible for running money laundering operations, trafficking drugs, weapons and smuggling immigrants into the US. The arrest was made possible by the investigations done by the Division of Investigation Specializing in Organized Crime (SIEDO) and information gathered by the Federal Police as part of Operation Nuevo Leon-Tamaulipas. "El Barbas" is suspected of being one of the main people of the Gulf Cartel and was in charge of all operations in Raynosa, Tamaulipas with the help of his sister Cantalicia Garza Azuara. Others arrested were Josue Garza Azuara who is Juan Oscar's brother. Mayra Pedraza Sanchez who was Juan Oscars Garza's girlfriend and Jaime Nuñez Mendoza. Officials also seized several luxury vehicles such as a 2004 Chevrolet Suburban, 2006 Hummer H2, 2004 Nissan Armada, 2007 Chevrolet Suburban, 2005 Volkswagen Toureg, 2004 Gran Cherokee and a 2004 Audi.
