State Trooper seizes one pound of Meth during a traffic stop
On March 11, 2007, a Missouri State Highway Patrol trooper
stopped an eastbound Dodge pickup truck on Interstate 44 in
Jasper County for a traffic violation. The stop and subsequent
investigation resulted in the seizure of approximately one pound of
methamphetamine with an estimated street value of $20,000.
At approximately 9:45 p.m., a 2003 Dodge pickup bearing Indiana
license plates was stopped near the 22 mile-marker for a traffic
violation. Several inconsistencies were found during conversations
with the driver and passenger prompting the trooper to ask for
consent to search the vehicle, which the driver granted. The search
revealed approximately one pound of methamphetamine in a plastic
bag in the bed of the pickup.
The driver, Benny O. Green, 49, of Brazil, IN, and the passenger,
John W. Deal, 54, of Reelsville, IN, were arrested for second degree
drug trafficking and transported to the Jasper County Jail in
Carthage, MO.
