Mexican Army detains leaders of the "Cardenas Guillen"
Organization
On
April 24, 2008 the National Defense Secretary and the PGR (Attorney general's office of the Republic), arrested
Rogelio Diaz Cuellar aka "El Rojo" and Rogelio Diaz Contreras
aka & "El Roger" a father son team of Drug traffickers and some of the leaders to the
"Cardenas Guillen" crime organization.
Rogelio Diaz Cuellar was the "leader of the Plaza" in Cuidad Victoria, Tamaulipas for the
organization "Cardenas Guillen". His duties were to supervise the reception, moving and sale of drugs. He also
supervised a cell of hitman and a group of the authorities of the three levels of government that offer them
protection for their illicit activities along with his son of the same name. He also had a group called "halcones"
(The hawks) to watch over the movements of the military and other federal authorities in Cuidad Victoria,
Tamaulipas Mexico. The Cell that Diaz Cuellar headed was an important area for the "Cardenas Guillen" organization
since this area was often used as a refuge for the main leader and for activities such as the training of members
of the organization. All these activities had been under investigation for some time and made the arrest possible.
Among others of the activities presumably carried out by Diaz Cuellar and his son, are the repressive actions
against journalists that publish articles that affect their Organization, as is the case of the aggressions against
the installations and the abduction of an executive of the local newspaper "El Cinco" in Cuidad Victory,
Tamaulipas. At the time of the arrest of Rogelio Diaz Cuellar and Rogelio Diaz Contreras authorities
seized two short-range firearms, three vehicles, and nine million pesos in national currency, fifteen thousand
dollars and 350 grams cocaine.
