Pounds of Cocaine found Hidden in Wheel WellPosted on August 23, 2014
On Saturday, August 23, 2014, U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers at the Port of Naco in Tucson, Arizona, referred a Mazda SUV for further inspection.
Following a positive alert for the presence of narcotics by a drug detection dog, officers performed a search of the Mazda and discovered 15 packages of cocaine concealed inside a custom-made compartment in the passenger side wheel well. This find weighed in at close to 38 pounds, with an estimated street value of $396,000.
The driver, a 54-year-old male Mexican citizen, was arrested and referred to Homeland Security Investigations. His cocaine and Mazda were sized by U.S. Customs and Border Protection.
