DEA Agents in Newport News arrest 4 men with 54 kilos of cocaine & over 1 million in cash

The DEA with the FBI and Newport News Police made a significant seizure and arrest involving four men at a garage near 1048 39th St in Newport News, VA.  Authorities say that a tractor trailer arrived as law enforcement officials were conducting surveillance at Marvin Carter's garage on October 20, 2017.  Officials observed the unloading of what turned out to be 54 kilograms of cocaine from hidden compartments that were underneath of the tractor trailer.  Three men that were identified as 42 year old Michael Kuna, 50 year old Hilario Lopez-Rodriguez, and 49 year old Daniel Lopez-Rodriguez offloaded the cocaine with the 49 year old Marvin Carter.  Police say that Stephen Kuna is from Canada.  Hilario Lopez-Rodriguez and Daniel Lopez-Rodriguez were said to be brothers from California.  Stephen Kuna was seen leaving the area in a Subaru vehicle.  A traffic stop was conducted on Stephen Kuna and two large, but empty duffel bags were found in his vehicle.   Two search warrants were obtained and executed on the tractor trailer and the garage and officials loctaed 100 shrink wrapped stacks of money that were bundled in $5,000 and $10,000 amounts.  In addition to the approximately one million dollars, officials also seized three high powered guns (including two AR15 assault rifles), heroin and approximately $42,000 that was in a safe.  Further investigation showed that the tractor trailer had made at least 16 border crossings into Mexico during the previous six month time period.  All four men were charged with conspiracy to distribute more than five kilograms of cocaine.  

During the weekend after the initial arrests, police executed a search warrant at  Marvin Carter's girlfriend's house in Newport News.  The girlfriend was identified as Jennifer Cravens and this search was based on a jail call involving Marvin O'Neal Carter and Jennifer M. Cravens.  Police also say that Marvin Carter's cell phone was in the name of his girlfriend.
